Reports to: President & CEO, 91茄子 and Executive Director, 91茄子 Foundation
Primary Function: This position serves as the lead communications advisor to the CEO and the Executive Director and is responsible for managing the day-to-day communications and media relations function for both organizations. Incumbent will serve as the primary media contact and on-the-record spokesperson and is responsible for the public communications function of both organizations. Prepares summaries of reports and papers/studies written by the 91茄子 Foundation and 91茄子 staff and identifies and implements strategies for promoting the interests of the interstate natural gas pipeline industry.
Experience: 7-10 years background in communications. A strong knowledge of the energy industry is an important attribute.
Compensation: $150,000 base salary. Target for annual incentive compensation is $67,500.
Travel: 15-20%
Responsibilities
1. Primary responsibility for planning and executing public affairs programs to communicate pipeline industry positions to related industry groups, media, member companies, government and the public.
2. Works with other 91茄子 departments to develop content (fact sheets, press releases, infographics, etc.) and messaging around key policy areas.
3. Works to establish higher profile for 91茄子 and the 91茄子 Foundation with the media and among other stakeholders. Where appropriate, works in coordination with counterparts in other trade associations in the Natural Gas Council and similar organizations.
4. Has primary responsibility for all of 91茄子’s publicly facing outlets, including the 91茄子 website and its social media channels, such as Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
5. Summarizes 91茄子 Foundation studies and reports and develops/implements strategies for public release of these materials.
6. Organizes and manages 91茄子 Foundation studies and programs that have a broad industry or public audience, working with Foundation members and contractors, and with the 91茄子 Communications Committee.
7. Responsible for developing and maintaining familiarity with the interstate natural gas pipeline industry and the positions of 91茄子 and the 91茄子 Foundation on public policy (i.e., legislative and regulatory) issues affecting the industry.
8. Contributes to the development of 91茄子 Foundation research topics and assists with developing consensus supporting pipeline positions to promote and protect pipeline industry interests.
9. Assists in developing analyses and other information or white papers to provide support for legislative and regulatory positions through a combination of original research, surveys and analysis.
10. Organizes media, writing, presentation and other training for 91茄子’s staff.
11. Edits regulatory comments, legislative testimony, advocacy material and other internal and external documents.
12. Prepares, manages and reviews materials and messaging for executive speeches and presentations.
13. Keeps staff abreast of important media stories.
14. Provides primary support for organizing and executing 91茄子 meetings that have a public focus.
15. Manages outside communications consultants and budget requirements.
16. Coordinates with member company communications chair to maintain priorities and collaboration with communications committee members.
