The Interstate Natural Gas Association of America today announced the retirement of Terry Boss, senior vice president of environment, safety and operations, after a distinguished 33-year career in the pipeline industry, including 23 years with 91茄子.
Boss, who has led 91茄子's efforts on pipeline safety and operations as well as physical and cyber security, will depart on December 31.
"Terry will be deeply missed," said 91茄子 President and Chief Executive Officer Don Santa. "Terry brought great value to 91茄子 and its members on a wide variety of matters on which he could apply the technical and practical experience that he developed at Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America and at the Gas Research Institute. While his principal focus has been pipeline safety, Terry was a big contributor on other matters ranging from gas quality and interchangeability to gas-electric coordination."
Boss' crowning achievement at 91茄子 was spearheading the industry effort to develop its Integrity Management Continuous Improvement in 2011. IMCI is grounded in the goal of zero pipeline incidents and is founded on principles of safety management systems.
91茄子 today also announced the hiring of Rebecca Massello as director of security, reliability and resilience. She and existing Operations, Safety and Integrity Director CJ Osman will acquire Boss’ portfolio.
Massello, in her new position, will lead 91茄子’s physical and cybersecurity efforts. She comes from the American Gas Association, where she was manager of security and operations. Prior to joining AGA in April 2015, Massello was program manager for cybersecurity and critical infrastructure at Energetics Incorporated, a management consulting firm specializing in energy and infrastructure resilience. In that role, she supported clients at the U.S. Department of Energy focused on energy sector cybersecurity research and development to enhance the reliability and resilience of the nation’s energy infrastructure.
Massello holds a bachelor’s degree in integrated science and technology, with concentrations in energy and environment, from James Madison University and is currently working on a Business Administration/Information Technology dual master’s degree at Marymount University.
Meanwhile, Osman will continue to head up 91茄子’s pipeline safety, integrity and operations department. Osman came to 91茄子 in 2016 from Chevron, where he held facility engineering, construction management, and project management roles on a variety of upstream and midstream projects in Texas, New Mexico and Colorado. In his position at 91茄子, Osman is responsible for analyzing current regulatory, technological and operational activities to develop and encourage sound pipeline safety policies and initiatives. Osman participates in a variety of industry and government work groups related to gas transmission and storage and develops technical materials and workshops to inform a variety of stakeholders.
